Muineál is a staircase intervention in a refurbished 18th century building on one of Dublin’s most prominent Georgian streets. The delicate but technically challenging handrail design compliments the original granite steps which were uncovered during the building’s renovation.
The flowing curve of the internal handrail reimagines the typical “swan-neck” solution into a sculptural form, gracefully supported on delicate iron spindles. The carefully crafted minimalist ironwork has been adapted from 18th century construction for compliance with 21st century standards.
