Tond Trethán is maremoto's response to the ongoing housing crisis in Ireland.
As a practice, we are passionate about sustainable urban development, and are acutely aware of the need for clarity and nuance in discussions around housing, urban development, planning & policy.
We consider it our social responsibility as architects & urbanists to actively support & empower public understanding of housing policy issues, such as Asset Urbanism which increasingly demands policy concessions in the shape of homes and communities optimised to perform as assets and wealth extraction vehicles. This is hindering the development of liveable, affordable & equitable built environments.
Our contributions to the housing discussion in Ireland have included appearances in national print & broadcast media.
